The time before: January in Tuscany

And then suddenly it’s back: my favorite time in Florence, Arezzo, Siena and actually in all of Tuscany.

The hectic weeks leading up to Christmas are over, January 6th has ended the vibrant Christmas season and the Tuscan cities of art can rest; the owners of restaurants, shops or hotels are also recovering from the influx of tourists and preparing for spring. And right now, it’s your turn, you as a real Tuscany fan far away from the summer heat! Haven’t you always wanted to enjoy a fresh Aperolspritz with a bowl of olives and a slice of white bread? Now is the right time for that maybe in Piazza Grande in Arezzo! With a bit of luck, you can easily get into conversation with the waiters – perfect knowledge of Italian is not required for this. In January and February, the Italians have time for their guests again. The idyllic town of Arezzo is ideal for an interesting weekend of sightseeing. It offers enough art and charm, but the city of 100,000 inhabitants is also very suitable for getting on the train to Florence from here. Pisa and Siena are best done by car or bus, both cities can easily be visited as day trips. The first months of 2023 are all about visiting world-famous cities of art without any stress, but in the greatest peace and quiet.
